Last year at CES 2010 one of my BizSpark One companies, Graphic.ly, launched their digital comic book reader on Windows 7. Graphic.ly was featured in Steve Ballmer's keynote, and in the Microsoft Booth. Now, only one year later, Graphic.ly is one of the leading digital comic book distributors with over 50 publishers including Marvel and Archie. This year, we have four new startups joining us at CES, showcasing their own Windows 7 touch enabled applications, all optimized for touch interaction.
Thump Games: If you like football, you will love Thump. In fact I was just playing Thump last night during the Fiesta Bowl on a Dell Duo. And now, Thump is optimized for Windows 7 touch. You watch a live football game, ideally a team you are familiar with, and then you place bets on what is going to happen in the game using a points system. You compete with other fans or your buddies and win prizes and bragging rights. Thump is in open beta now, and will be launching their Windows 7 application at the end of July. Chip Overstreet, the CEO of Thump, will be here with me at CES, getting connected to OEM's, press, and tech influentials. BTW – Thump Baseball is next.
Immersion Digital: The bible has been the best-selling book every year, for a decades. Now, Immersion Digital has dramatically changed how people interact with the bible with a completely new multimedia experience. You can view the bible through 5 lenses that change how you view content. With the Bible lens you see the text in the normal structure, from 5 translations, like on a Kindle. The Atlas lens let's you view the geography of the bible with maps from ancient times to modern satellite images. The Timeline lens lays out the bible in chronological order. The Topical lens provides access to bible verses based on a topic, like marriage or faith. And the Media lens links in internet media, pictures and videos to bring content to life. Nelson Saba, the founder and CEO of Immersion Digital will be at CES to demonstrate GloBible on all kinds of Windows 7 touch enabled devices.
Kobojo: The French social game publisher, Kobojo, and their co-founder and CEO, Vincent Vergonjeanne, will be at CES to demonstrate their addictive Pyramidz game on all kinds of Windows 7 touch enabled devices. Pyramidz is one of the Goobox social games that Kobojo is publishing. You slide rows or columns to match 3 similarly colored tiles. Every time I "test" it I have to remind myself to get back to work. I love simple graphic games like this. Pyramidz is in early beta on Windows 7 touch devices and will be launching at the end of July.
Club Cooee: Following the success of James Cameron's movie Avatar, everybody knows what having an avatar is like. Well, if you want one right now, you can get one, from Club Cooee. Check out their YouTube video channel. Add a little spice to your chat conversions on Windows 7 with the new, touch enabled, avatar client. You can choose a character, locations, rooms, and decorate them to your liking. Ingo Frick, co-founder and Managing Director of Club Cooee will be at CES to demonstrate the application and see their new touch enabled beta in action on Windows 7 devices.
I am pleased to be hosting these cool startups at CES and helping them get connected to Microsoft and many of our partners. If you would like to speak with me, or any of these companies, don't hesitate to e-mail me here. Ask for Dave Drach and be clear what you would like to chat about.
See you at CES!
